Blackjack Table Rules

Here are the things to observe in a casino blackjack table. Make sure to act accordingly, especially when a newcomer in the gambling game.

A blackjack table is often provided with 5 betting places, though there are times that casinos provide for 7. Dealers deal the cards to the players and stand for the casino. Take a place and watch the signal for the minimum and maximum bet. When the bet is decided, exchange money for chips. Refrain from placing cash on the betting circle of the blackjack table; cash bets are not allowed there, and placing them thus on the table will give away one's being a novice or newcomer in a casino or at a blackjack table.

Place cash at a corner outside the betting circle and wait for the dealer to convert them into chips. When the chips are in, place bets in chips in the betting circle. Then the dealer shuffles the blackjack cards. If the dealer has two decks of cards, the shuffled cards are placed in a slot called a "shoe." After shuffling, the dealer will have the decks or cards "cut" by a blackjack player (splitting the deck into two) by using a colored card (or cut card). The blackjack player inserts the cut card somewhere in the middle of the deck cards---using his own discretion---and then the dealer separates the deck using the cut card inserted as the reference point. The blackjack dealer then puts the cut card back into the deck.

The cards are then placed in the shoe. Sometimes the blackjack dealer holds them, some decks less, and then the first card will be eliminated. As the first card is rid from the rest, the blackjack dealer checks if all the bets are in. The cards are dealt to each blackjack player, starting from the top of the deck, the farthest player to the dealer's left being dealt first. Everybody gets a card each first, including the face-up hand of the blackjack dealer. Then another round of card dealing is done until each blackjack player has two cards each. Then the dealer's "hole" card is placed under the face-up card.

In some casinos blackjack players never touch the cards. The dealer takes care of everything. In others, the blackjack players are given liberty to touch them, but not lift them up from the table.

In playing blackjack in casinos, to avoid being embarrassed and be an obvious first timer, be sure to go by the rules.
